More farrier work and hope for Toby
Today Mario our wonderful farrier will be back to the farm to finish some of the herd trims as well as try to find some hope for Toby the new horse who came to us with Summer sores and very bad feet. If anyone can help this gentle giant it will be Mario. We will post pics of Toby’s feet and progress as we go. Poor Toby came to us with his front feet shod and his front left foot mostly covered in epoxy. He in addition has large summer sores the size of an adults palm of your hand on his front right fetlock, left rear inside and outside of his fetlock….. Baby steps for Toby……
New Arrival!!
Toby came to us as a owner surrender as he has had summer sores that refuse to heal, a lameness on his front right hoof and in need of some rest and help for his hooves. Toby has large summer sores the size of the palm of your hand, and they will take months to heal in. We are having the farrier and vet out today for evaluations and to start treatment with him. Pictures and Toby’s own page will be posted this evening.
Our first L.E.A.D. horse has found a new career!
Cash our first L.E.A.D. horse has found his new career as a Law Enforcement mount. He will begin his training after the first of October. We were lucky to have Cash brought to us in great condition with strong foundation in Dressage as our first horse for our program. He has been a delight to work with and a pleasure to have around the farm. We will be posting update on his progress after he transitions to the mounted unit…. Good Luck Cash!!!
Summer camp for kids and critters!
On Firday Aug 12 We took Fiona and Merlin to Wekiva River Preserve in Apopka Florida to visit the kids and Critters summer camp program run by C.A.T. The Center for Animal Therapies. There were approx 21 children present who got a hands on chance to meet the big horses. Both Merlin and Fiona seemed to enjoy themselves a great deal and the children had fun too. We spoke of the responsibilities of owning a horse, the care involved with horses, equine safety and nutrition as well as reading body language to ensure proper communication with a horse you are working in harmony with. We look forward to meeting the kids at the Fall Kids and critters program again hosted by C.A.T. Hope to see you there!
