| Here at Florida Draft Horse Rescue we understand that sometimes people find themselves in a bad situation by circumstances beyond their control. We offer a safe haven for any draft horse or draft cross horse who is in need of a safe, loving environment to stay. We end up caring for horses in all sorts of condition from the family who is unable to keep their beloved horse any longer and the horse is very loved, well cared for and in great condition. To those horses who have been abandoned and no one has cared for them for a while... and everything in between. Regardless of the reason that brought the horse to us we do our best to help heal mind, body, and spirit. We use only Natural Horsemanship Techniques to work with our horses and each horse is worked with on their own ability level. Once a horse is ready to find a new home we do our best to find the right home for each horse. We try to match riders ability, and personalities to ensure a long and happy relationship. We also conduct background checks on our adoptive families as well as post adoptive home checks to ensure our adopted horses are receiving the care they deserve. All proceeds from adoptions of horses go directly back to the horses as this is a labor of love. We do try to purchase from auctions any horse we know that is being bought by transporters for the slaughter houses. This is a grass roots effort but one by one every horse saved makes a difference. Florida Draft Horse Rescue is a Florida Non-Profit Organization. However, they may be tax deductible under other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code." We are a proud member of the "Unwanted Horse Coalition" and abide by the American Association Of Equine Practitioners "Care Guidelines for Equine Rescue and Retirement Facilities". |
